Wrestling event set to raise funds for children’s wards at Queen’s Hospital, Burton
A group of professional wrestlers are aiming to raise funds to support the children’s wards at Queen’s Hospital in Burton, by holding a live wrestling event in the town.
The event, which takes place on Sunday 30 March at Marston’s Sports & Social Club in Burton upon Trent, will give wrestling fans the chance to watch live matches, featuring talent from across the region, including local wrestler, Axel Justice. It will run for around two hours and will provide live, all action, family entertainment.
Speaking about the event, local wrestler, Axel Justice, said, “We decided to hold the event to raise funds as a thank you for the lifesaving treatment which was received by my friend’s son at the hospital. The ward staff were amazing.
“I am a local wrestler representing Burton upon Trent and have two children of my own, who have both spent time on the children’s ward over the years. I’ve also got family who work for the trust.
“We’re proud to support the amazing care patients receive by helping to raise funds for the hospital. Every ticket purchased will help us raise funds for the wards.”
Hundreds are expected to attend the event, with all proceeds going to the Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, which supports five local hospitals in Derby, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, by funding new equipment, investing in research and supporting the best healthcare for patients.
