Loscoe Ladies WI support charity through community fundraising
Members of the Loscoe Ladybirds WI have raised an incredible £1600 for our charity by selling a variety of handmade crafts and undertaking a series of fundraising activities.
The group decided to fundraise for the charity to enable the colorectal cancer team to provide bowel cancer care packs for those patients, who have received radiotherapy as part of their treatment.
At their meeting last night (19th February 20025), members of the group, along with Anne Willis, who is the longest serving member of the Loscoe Ladybirds for 45 years, were joined by members of the local community, who supported the fundraising. Together they presented Sally Chester, Community Stoma Nurse, with a cheque.
Jill Matthews, Chief Officer, at Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity said, “We are very grateful to the Loscoe Ladybirds WI and everyone who has supported their fundraising. The money they have raised will mean that patients, who need them, can receive a bowel cancer care pack, which contains a number of items to aid comfort, following radiotherapy treatment.”
