Q&A with Craig Day ahead of The Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024
Craig Day, Pathology Stores Porter from Queen’s Hospital Burton is taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon Sunday 13th October 2024. We held a Q&A session with Craig where he told us all about his motivation for signing up and how he’s preparing for the big day.
Why did you choose to do the Royal Parks Half Marathon?
I saw the post on the charity Facebook page and thought it looked a really good event to take part in. The course takes in 4 of the royal parks around London (Hyde, The Green, St James Parks and Kensington Gardens).
It’s great that you have chosen to fundraise for our charity, what motivated you to choose us?
Having worked for the trust for a few years now I can see how the charity supports patients, visitors and staff for all extra that the NHS funding provides which make a huge difference to their experience whilst in hospital.
How is your training going?
So far, the training has gone really well, I’ve been following a Garmin coach and completed over 50 training runs covering a distance of over 460km
Who’s going along to cheer you on, on the day?
Leanne my partner will be there on the day to see me off and cheer me to the finish line.
How’s your fundraising going – what are you aiming to raise?
I would like to raise £300 if possible. So far, I have received donations through my JustGiving page and on a sponsor form. I’m short of my target so if anyone would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated, every little helps.
What would you say to others thinking about fundraising for our charity?
Go for it. Do and raise whatever you can. It’s a great feeling to know that the money goes to a great cause, and you can see it making a difference every day.
Where can people sponsor you?
You can find Craig’s JustGiving page here.
We’d like to wish Craig the best of luck and to thank him for choosing to fundraise for Derby & Burton Hospital’s Charity.
