Mother Praises Birthing Pool Experience
A mother who faced a difficult birth during the delivery of her first daughter has applauded the midwife team who helped her deliver her second daughter via waterbirth.

Mother of two Ashleigh Collins, 29, had her second baby Freya in September 2021
After complications stopped her having her dream waterbirth with Elsie, Ashleigh was determined to give birth in a pool after researching the benefits of a waterbirth, “I read lots about the pain relief properties of a water birth and I have to say it really helped with the pain.
The whole experience was a lot more relaxing and private. Ashleigh now wants to raise awareness of the Birthing Pool Appeal, which aims to raise £10,000 to fund the development of a new cutting-edge birthing pool suite, helping to give other mums-to-be the chance of experiencing the benefits of water during labour.“
Alongside the difference in birthing experiences I have found that there is a big difference in my daughters’ temperaments. Freya is a lot calmer and I really feel that its because of the relaxing waterbirth. It made a real difference in how much more relaxed I was during the birthing pool experience”
“A nice new environment will be brilliant for new mums and will really help with the whole birthing experience.”
