Memory Hearts to reassure patients and families

Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity have purchased 750 olive hearts to be given to any patients receiving end of life care at UHDB during their final hours as a token of reassurance for their loved ones that they were not alone when they died.

The hearts are made of wood and varnished so that they meet infection prevention and control standards. Following the death of the patient, the heart is placed into an organza bag along with a heart-warming message to the family/carers.
