Brett signed up to our lottery after experiencing fantastic care from University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
Speaking about why he joined the charity lottery, Brett said: “I initially started playing the charity lottery back in December 2022. At the time, we were in hospital with our son, who had been admitted onto the Dolphin Ward at the Children’s Hospital for two days due to low blood sugars. I spoke to the charity lottery teams who were in the main corridor at the hospital. They explained the work that the charity does to support patients and staff and so, due to the support the teams at Derby had given to our son during this stay and previous stays, I signed up.”
Hearing the news about his big charity lottery win, Brett said he was “elated” when he got the call to say he had won a whopping £2,000 in the charity lottery Spring Superdraw.
“I was absolutely shocked, at the time – I just could not believe it. It took several days to sink in as I have never won anything in my life to this degree, so it was surprising.
“We had already booked a holiday to Majorca for July as a summer holiday an, originally we were going to pay this off in instalments. Winning the charity lottery superdraw ensured that the holiday was paid for completely. It some ways it feels like a free holiday now, which is an amazing feeling.
“The charity does so much for Derby and Burton hospitals, so it feels amazing to be supporting them with a few pounds each month, as well as potentially winning prizes too. Overall, it is a win win situation.” ” Added Brett.
