Reindeer visit brings festive magic to Derby’s Nightingale Macmillan Unit
The Royal Derby Hospital’s Nightingale Macmillan Unit held its annual reindeer visit yesterday (Thursday, December 9), where Santa’s favourite helpers made a special appearance to spread joy to patients and staff on the unit.
The visit, which was funded and organised by Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity in collaboration with the unit, provided joy during what can be a difficult time of year for some.
Patients and staff from the unit visited the reindeer up close, giving patients and their loved ones a chance to experience these beautiful animals.
Jill Matthews, Chief Officer at Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “We know the run up to the festive season can be difficult for some, so enabling patients, their loved ones and our staff to receive a reindeer visit each year brings a special kind of joy and creates memories for all. We are incredibly grateful to all our supporters for making this event possible with their kind donations.”
The reindeer visit is just one of many initiatives aimed at supporting patients, their loved ones and staff across our hospitals during the festive season, supported by Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.
