After you have met the needs of your family, you may like to leave a gift in your Will to help provide for the healthcare of future generations.
Leaving a gift in your Will is a wonderful way to help continue the charity’s work. It is relatively easy to do, it will be free from inheritance tax, and it doesn’t cost a penny during your lifetime. If you don’t make a Will, the State could decide what happens to your possessions when you die, regardless of your wishes.
Up to half of the donations we receive come from legacies and they really are a vital source of income for improving the facilities and enhancing the patient experience.
Mr Hean-Choon Chen, Consultant Ophthalmologist, said “Thanks to a legacy for the Ophthalmic Department, we have recently purchased a Triton Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine costing £68,425 which will help the Trust to expand the Macular service and £40,000 towards an Optos wide-angle camera system to take photos of the retina (back of the eye) and blood flow to help diagnose conditions such as diabetic eye disease in adults and retinopathy of prematurity in premature babies.”
