Hospital shop opens at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital with support from charity
Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity are pleased to have supported the opening of a new shop opening at a Derby Hospital.
Located on the main corridor of the Florence Nightingale Community hospital, the shop, originally managed by the League of Friends, has been transformed thanks to funding from Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.
Cheryl Mallen, Community Programmes Manager/Site Manager at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, “The League of Friends shop was a little gem and when it sadly closed it was hugely missed by patients, visitors, and staff. The impact of having the shop open again cannot be overstated, it plays an important role in enhancing the hospital experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues alike.”
The shop will initially be open Monday to Friday from 9am until 3pmwith opening times being extended later in the new year.
Jill Matthews, Chief Officer of Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said she was happy to see the shop opening. “We are thrilled to be in a position to help fund this new service to support our staff and patients. It is lovely to be able to reintroduce such a vital service to our community hospital here in Derby.”
The project has been a huge collaborative effort, and we want to say a special thank you to Cheryl, Jackie Marriott, Bernard Shoebridge, the hospitals estates team, the Bistro team and our volunteers for all their hard work and support.
The new shop will open at 11am on Wednesday 27 November and all are invited to attend the ribbon cutting. Hospital staff, patients and supporters are encouraged to attend to explore the new shop and learn more about the charity.
