Colourful way to celebrate couple’s 1st wedding anniversary

A couple from Derby are set to mark their first wedding anniversary by joining hundreds of other runners taking part in a colour run for Derby Hospitals Charity.

Ashleigh Marshall will be running the 5k route alongside her husband Peter to celebrate their anniversary on Sunday 9th September. “We saw the run advertised on Facebook and thought it would be an unusual and fun way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. It will definitely be a day to remember!”

The colourful event will see runners follow a 5k route whilst being sprayed in a rainbow of coloured powder paint.

Vicky Carey, Community Fundraiser at Derby Hospitals Charity said: “We are thrilled that the lovely couple chose to mark the special day at our event. This is our second year running the colour run and its shaping up to be bigger and better than last year.

It is really important to us to have support from our local community, whose generosity enables us to carry on delivering much needed services. The money raised by our runners will make a real difference to patients’ lives across the Trust.”

Runners in the event will be raising money for the charity but can choose to support a specific ward or department across any of the 5 hospital sites including Burton, Tamworth and Lichfield.

Adults and children over 5 are all welcome to take part in the 5km – or 3.1-mile – Run on Sunday, September 10th at 10am. Entry costs £20 for over-16s or £10 for under-16s and includes a free T-shirt and paint packet to throw at the start of the race.
